Understanding Ahiṃsā (Non-Violence)
The first of the Yamas (ethical restraints) in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, Ahiṃsā goes far beyond abstaining from physical violence. It requires cleansing violence from thought and speech, dissolving judgment, envy, and cruelty, and meeting the world with gentle benevolence and mutual reverence.
Spiritual Significance
In the Numinous path, Ahiṃsā (Non-Violence) represents a key pillar for bridging the gap between physical reality and the subtle energies of consciousness.
